6 weeks later and not a day further along

So I just got back from a visit with Doc.

He and I reviewed my recent charts and we are now certain that I ovulate on a regular basis.

We also reviewed my bloodwork from yesterday morning and found out that my TSH isn't all that much lower that it was before the last 6 weeks of Synthroid for hypothyroidism. It was 8.6 and is now 5.48 (just within the lab's normal limits of 5.50). So he tripled my dose!  I hope that his being so conservative to start with doesn't affect anything else that we may decide to do in the long run.

I asked if anything else could be done at this point and he said that he wasn't going to use Clomid now because of it's risks and side effects and the fact that I already ovulate.

He asked if my recent traveling for work affects our sex life...awkward!...but I guess a necessary question and the answer was no, it doesn't affect it.

He wants to see me back in 4 weeks.

What a waste of the last 6 weeks.

  1. Ugh! I can understand feeling like time has been wasted, I've been there and it is no fun! I'm glad to hear that your levels did go down and that your doctor is increasing your dose to lower it even more. My RE wants it to be no higher than 2.5 while doing fertility treatments (well, I guess TTC in general), so it took a little fiddling to get mine where it needed to be too.

  2. UGH. How frickin' frustrating. Hang in there...hopefully your body is getting straightened out and you'll get a BFP on your own this cycle!

  3. I'm sorry you didn't get the answers you wanted. The waiting is so frustrating. It took about 3 months for my TSH to get to a good place last summer. I had three dose increases (25, 50 and 75 of Levoxyl) to get my TSH from 5.5 to 1.4. At 3.6 my primary was OK, and the OB/GYN was as well, but all my research pointed to RE's preferring 2 - .5, so I pushed for the last increase while I waited to get in with an RE. Patience is a virtue, I often tell myself (not that I'm so good at listening), but I'm really glad you dose is getting tripled, because hopefully in 4 weeks, you will be right where you need to be.

  7. Hey Michele! I think you are right. You have to stop following and then follow the new one :) On your side bar you have to remove the old one and add the new one. Sorry about the hassle!
